Both PMP® and PRINCE2® are certifications in the Project Management domain, but are not related. PMP® certification is administered by Project Management Institute (PMI® ) and PRINCE2® is administered by AXELOS. Absolutely not!  The certification is internationally recognized and applicable for management professionals in multiple industries.

WHAT ARE THE PREREQUISITES FOR APPEARING IN THE PMP® CERTIFICATION EXAM?

PMI® stipulates the following as the prerequisites for the exam Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree or the global equivalent),7500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education OR Four-year degree,4500 hours leading and directing projects, 35 hours of project management education

HOW LONG SHOULD I PREPARE FOR SUCCESSFULLY CLEARING THE PMP® CERTIFICATION?

Average time required to properly prepare for the exam is around 2 months spending around 3 hours per day. However there are fast learners who has cramped the preparation time to as low as two to three weeks also.

WHERE CAN I APPEAR FOR THE PMP® CERTIFICATION EXAM?

PMP® exams are conducted at Prometric® testing centers. They have a network of testing centers across the globe.

WHERE DO I GET THE DETAILS OF THE LATEST SYLLABUS FOR THE EXAM?

WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF THE PMP® EXAM?

The exam consists of 200 multiple choice questions and you have four hours to complete it. Twenty-five of the 200 questions on the exam are “sample” questions placed randomly to fine-tune the exam and not counted for certification. The test taker is only graded on their proficiency on 175 questions.

WHAT IS PMBOK® ?

PMBOK® stands for Project Management Body of Knowledge® – a collection of processes, best practices, terminologies, and guidelines that are accepted as standards among the Project Management Community.

HOW LONG IS THE PMP® CERTIFICATION VALID?

The certification is valid for 3 years beyond which it needs to be renewed.

ONCE THE VALIDITY OF MY PMP® CERTIFICATION EXPIRES, HOW DO I GET RECERTIFIED?

You can take the exam again up to 3 times within one year after your application is approved for the first time. You may schedule a date anytime within this period to retake the exam.
